Tree Carve¶
Cut a message into a tree. Hit a log with a sword and type what you want on it — a name, a warning, a heart — and it stays there, cut into the bark, for anyone who walks past.
It registers no items and adds no recipes. The tool is the sword you already carry, and the only way to lose a message is to lose the log it is on.
MC 1.21.1 Fabric NeoForge
What can it do?¶
- Carve with a sword — left-click any log, of any wood, vanilla or modded. Four lines of twenty characters.
- Wrap it in a symbol — a heart, an umbrella or a skull, so a carving can be a declaration, a shelter marker or a warning.
- Carved, not painted — the log keeps its own bark. Only the lettering reads as fresh-cut timber, in a shade taken from that species' own stripped wood, so an oak carving and a warped stem carving look like their own trees.
- An axe takes it off — stripping a carved log strips it exactly as vanilla does, and the message goes with the bark.
The one rule¶
A message belongs to the log it is cut into. Fell the tree and the message is gone with it; build something else on that spot and whatever was there is cleared. Nothing survives the block it was written on, which is why a carving is worth walking to.
